Saturday Lotto Millionaire Guarantee
The Millionaire Guarantee (Millionærgaranti) is a supplementary draw that takes place alongside every Saturday Lotto game. It guarantees that two players will become millionaires every week, even if the first prize pool in Lotto isn’t won. Find out more about the 2 x 1 million kroner draw below.
How to Play
To play the Millionaire Guarantee, all you need to do is take part in the main Lotto game. You will be automatically entered into the Millionaire Guarantee draw which takes place on the same day. You do not need to pick any extra numbers for the Millionaire Guarantee or pay an extra fee. The cost is included in the price of a Lotto ticket.
You receive one entry into the Millionaire Guarantee draw for each row you play on Lotto. It is the row itself that is entered into the draw, rather than an associated code or number that you can also see on your ticket.
How the Draw Works
The draw works like a traditional raffle. Every row that has been played on Lotto is entered into a separate electronic draw, and two are selected at random as the winners.
The draw takes place every Saturday evening, shortly after the winning numbers for Lotto have been generated. It uses a procedure approved by the Danish Gaming Authority to select the winners at random.
Prizes and Odds
There are two prizes of 1 million kroner in every draw. You win the prize if one of the rows you have played is selected at random in the extra electronic draw that follows Lotto.
It does not matter how your numbers performed in the main Saturday Lotto draw. Whether you have matched none of the Lotto numbers or all seven, your chances of winning in the Millionaire Guarantee are exactly the same.
Each row played on Lotto has an identical chance of winning. The overall odds of winning depend entirely on how many rows have been submitted in total, along with how many you played. The more you enter, the greater your chances. If you submit five rows, for example, you have five chances to win. If you submit 50, you have 50 chances to win.
Millionaire Guarantee FAQs
Find out the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Millionaire Guarantee below:
How do I find out if I have won?
There are no numbers to check in the Millionaire Guarantee, but there are a couple of ways to find out if you are a winner. If you go to a retail store and hand your ticket to the dealer, they will be able to tell you if it’s a winner. Alternatively, you can scan your ticket on the Danske Spil app and you will be notified straight away if you have won. If you have played online, you will also be notified automatically if you are a winner.
Where does the money for the prizes come from?
A portion of the prize money for Lotto, 11 percent, is kept in a special savings pool. This is primarily used for paying out the 2 x 1 million kroner prizes in the Millionaire Guarantee, but can also be used to supplement other prize categories if necessary.
Can I play the Millionaire Guarantee on its own?
No. You can only play the Millionaire Guarantee by entering Saturday Lotto. Likewise, you cannot play Lotto without also being entered into the Millionaire Guarantee. You automatically receive one Millionaire Guarantee entry for each row you play on Lotto.
